Cue - Privacy Policy

Cue ("the app") is a reminder app that notifies you when you open a specific app or arrive at a specific place. This page explains what data the app handles and why.

Data that stays on your device

The content of what you actually use Cue for is stored only in the app's private database on your phone and is never sent to us:

• The text of your reminders
• The place names, addresses, and coordinates you've saved a reminder for
• Which apps you've attached a reminder to

Uninstalling the app deletes this data permanently.

Place search and geocoding

When you search for a place to attach a location reminder to, or when you use your current location to set one, Cue sends the following to LocationIQ, a third-party geocoding service, so it can return matching addresses:

• The text you type into the place search box
• Your device's approximate or precise location coordinates, when you choose "use current location"

These requests are sent over an encrypted connection. LocationIQ processes them under its own privacy policy. Cue does not attach your name, account, or reminder text to these requests. If no network is available, Cue falls back to Android's on-device geocoder and nothing is sent.

Data we collect

We use Firebase (a Google service) for basic, anonymous product analytics and crash reporting:

• Usage events - anonymous counts and categories only, e.g. "a reminder was created with trigger type App" or "a reminder was deleted." These events never include your reminder text, place details, or which specific app you picked.
• Crash reports - if the app crashes, technical details (stack trace, device model, OS version) are sent to help us fix the bug. These are not linked to your reminder content.
• Remote configuration - the app checks for update notices. This does not send any personal or reminder data, only a request for the current config values.

This data is processed by Google/Firebase under their own privacy terms. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Permissions and why we ask

• Location - used to detect when you arrive at a place you've set a reminder for, and, when you ask Cue to use your current location, to look up a nearby address (see "Place search and geocoding" above). Location used for arrival detection stays on your device.
• Accessibility service - used only to notice when you open an app you've set a reminder for, so Cue can show that reminder immediately. It is not used to read, log, or transmit the content of any other app.
• Notifications - used to show you your reminder when it fires.

Data retention and deletion

Local reminder data is deleted when you uninstall the app, or when you delete an individual reminder within the app. Place-search requests are not retained by us. Analytics and crash data held by Firebase is retained for at most 90 days.

To request deletion of any analytics or crash data tied to your device, email nirbhaynaruka@gmail.com with the subject "Cue data deletion request". We will process it within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Cue is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will be revised.
